Ken Steidley
Executive Team
Ken Steidley is currently the Development Director for WTC a position he has held since January 2009. Prior to assuming the duties of the Development Director, Ken served as the Director of Community Services for Work Training Center, overseeing the Do-It Leisure division since first being hired by WTC in 1987. A graduate of California State University, Chico, he holds a bachelor's and master's degree in Recreation Administration. Ken has been a Recreation Therapist Certified (RTC) by the California Board of Recreation and Park Certification (CBRPC) since 1977 and has been a member of the California Recreation and Park Society since 1976. Ken is a graduate of the 1996-1997 of Community Leadership Program, (Chico V) a year-long educational program designed to develop leadership skills, gain local awareness and foster community participation. Ken is very active in the community. He has served in the following capacities:
- California Recreation and Park Society Therapeutic Recreation Section, state level. Past Director (president). Served four years as Director and served two years as Board member, 1998 – 2004; & Chair of Regulatory Committee 2005-08.
Butte County Coordinating Council, Vice-chair, 2006 & 2007; and Chair for 2008. This is an advisory council that deals with issues and integrated services for individuals with developmental disabilities in Butte County.
California State University, Chico, Civic Engagement committee. Member from 2006 - current.
Service Providers Advisory Committee, SPAC, 2001 - 2007. Former member. This committee serves as an advisory committee to Far Northern Regional Center.
Partners in Progress, Past committee member 2004 - 07. A California State University, Chico and Butte College committee for Service Learning / Community Involvement for college students.
Chico Area Recreation & Park District, July 2000: ADA Transition Plan and Self-Evaluation team. Summer 1996: Served on the Recreation & Aquatics Center design and feasibility team.
Feather River Recreation & Park District Committee Member for ADA Self Evaluation Report and Transition Plan, spring 2002.
Community Action Agency of Butte County. Board member (Treasurer & Executive Committee member) from 1994 to 1997.
United Way of Butte & Glen Counties fund raising Chair (or Co-Chair) for the Bowl-A-Thon from 1987 through 1989, 1996, 1998, & 2001.
Ken has received the following awards:
Recipient of the Ron Palmer Individual Excellence Award presented by United Way of Butte & Glen Counties, for Outstanding Community Service during 2001 - 2002.
Recipient of the Outstanding Therapeutic Recreator Award from California Recreation and Park Society, District II, May 2002.
