DEFINITION:
The substitute instructor is instrumental in implementing programs and activities for clients participating in the Creative Learning Center, a program of the Work Training Center.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Reports to the Program Coordinator and/or Assistant Program Coordinator. Supervises and teaches clients in assigned classroom activities. Participates in assessment and ongoing evaluation of objectives for individual clients. Maintains required records and reports. Assists in the coordination and participates in community-based activities. Exercises independent judgement on a continual basis, within guidelines, working toward achievement of goals and objectives. Works closely with other instructors in assisting clients to reach goals and objectives.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Require:
Appropriate experience in providing direct services to persons who are developmentally disabled. The ability to work as a team member and to represent the Work Training Center in a positive manner. A pre-employment physical examination, TB screening, and fingerprinting will be required upon hire. Candidates must pass post-offer, pre-employment functional evaluation.
Prefer:
Experience in behavior management techniques. Current First Aid and CPR certification. It is recommended that staff be tested and inoculated for Hepatitis B.
COMPENSATION:
Grade Level IV • On-call position
Wage: $8.24 - $12.01 • Non-benefitted position
Pay levels for new employees, whose qualifications exceed the minimum job requirements, may be started at a higher rate than the bottom figure listed for the salary range.
