DEFINITION: Feather River Industries (FRI) Crew Leader is responsible for the supervision, monitoring, and training of persons receiving services assigned to the FRI Woodshop. Will also perform production work and coordinate client work activities as necessary for the timely completion of contract requirements. Works with Rehabilitation Coordinator in accordance with client and operational needs. A special emphasis is placed on safety, as training takes place in the portion of the WTC Work Activity Program where many of the potentially hazardous operations take place.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Supervises, trains and provides work assistance to persons receiving services. Provides training to persons receiving services and ensures that training is integrated with the successful completion of day-to-day work assignments. Makes independent judgements, within stated objectives and guidelines, regarding production/contract needs and the needs of persons receiving services. Provides regular and repeated training in the safe operation of production equipment and tools. Deals effectively with production contracts and making suggestions to Production Coordinator with regards to specific production/materiel needs. Performs all aspects of woodshop production tasks. Performs basic servicing of woodshop equipment, both powered and non-powered. Provides for the safe handling and storage of materiel. Participates in time studies as requested. Completes and maintains accurate records and reports. Keeps immediate supervisor promptly and fully informed of all problems or unusual matters of significance and takes prompt corrective action where necessary. Participates in case conferences, makes recommendations, and assists in the development of rehabilitation goals for persons receiving services.ADDITIONAL DUTIES:
May be required to organize and implement vocational training downtime for persons receiving services. Performs other duties and responsibilities as required or requested by the Senior Crew Leader, Production Coordinator, Commercial Services Manager, or Executive Director.PHYSICAL DEMANDS: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential function of this job.
Employee is regularly required to stand; walk; bend; lift; twist; use hands; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; and see and hear and communicate with sufficient acuity to successfully perform all aspects of the job. Employee must be able to demonstrate manual dexterity, hand-eye coordination, and be able to perform simple grasping. Employee will be required to work outside in an environment that may include inclement weather and extreme heat and/or cold. REQUIRE:
Any combination of education, knowledge, and/or skills, equal to a minimum of two year’s experience in a commercial woodshop or production setting. Ability to work with persons with disabilities. Must possess a valid California Driver’s License and ability to maintain a clear DMV to be insurable by the Work Training Center’s carrier. A fingerprint clearance from the Department of Justice on file as a condition of continued employment. Commitment to the Work Training Center and its mission and the ability to work as a team member and represent Feather River Industries in a professional manner. Ability and willingness to work overtime as required. Adherence to established dress standards.PREFER OR WILLING TO ACQUIRE:
Two year’s directly related experience in a commercial woodshop.2. Class “B” California Driver’s License
3. Current First Aid and CPR certificate or the ability to obtain certification.
4. Previous experience working with persons with disabilities.
SALARY:
Grade Level V
Wage: $9.49-$13.26/hour
Full-Time position
Benefited Position after 6 month period
Pay levels for new employees, whose qualifications exceed the minimum job requirements, may be started at a higher rate than the bottom figure listed for the salary range.
California Class “B” Drivers License which has been requested or approved by WTC, add $0.50 per hour, or monthly equivalent, to employee’s salary or wages, beginning the 1st of the following month, not to exceed top of wage range. Loss of Class “B” License, for any reason, will reduce $0.50 from employee’s rate of pay on the 1st of the month following loss.
