CAL-TRANS REST STOP (Willows)

Production Aide

Definition

Under general supervision, performs janitorial work, maintains landscape quality, and assists in meeting contract goals of Willows Caltrans Rest Stop.

Essential Functions

Performs janitorial work, general labor, and landscape maintenance as assigned by Senior Crew Leader and/or Crew Leader. Assists Senior Crew Leader and/or Crew Leader in maintaining and meeting quality control standards of Caltrans contract using powered and non-powered equipment. Assists in providing training and/or labor assistance to persons receiving services. Assists Senior Crew Leader and/or Crew Leader with limited supervision of persons receiving services. Participates in time studies as requested. Keeps immediate supervisor promptly and fully informed of all problems or unusual matters of significance and takes prompt corrective action as directed. Performs other duties and responsibilities as required by the Senior Crew Leader, Production Coordinator, Commercial Services Manager, or Executive Director.

Physical Demands

Employee is regularly required to stand; twist; walk; bend; lift; use hands; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; and see, hear and communicate with sufficient acuity to successfully perform all aspects of the job. Employee will be required to work outside in an environment that may include inclement weather and extreme heat and/or cold. Employee must be able to demonstrate manual dexterity, hand-eye coordination and perform simple grasping and fine manipulation and be physically able to safely lift up to 50 lbs.

Qualifications

Require:

High school diploma or equivalent, and a demonstrated aptitude for janitorial, general labor work, and/or landscape maintenance. Ability to safely operate powered and non-powered equipment including hand tools, janitorial cleaning supplies, and landscape maintenance equipment. The ability to work as a team member. The ability to represent the Work Training Center in a positive manner. A fingerprint clearance from the Department of Justice on file as a condition of continued employment. Ability and willingness to work a varied schedule including weekends, holidays, or evenings. Adherence to established dress standards.

Prefer:

Previous experience working with adults with disabilities. Current First Aid and CPR certificate, or ability to obtain certification after hire. One year’s experience in a janitorial, landscape, or light industrial or production setting.

Compensation

Grade Level V • Part-time position (less than 15 hrs./week);
Evening and Weekend Hours
Wage: $6.75 - $8.58/hour with no benefits
