Job Coach (Chico & Oroville)

DEFINITION

The WTC Community Employment Services Job Coach is responsible for supervision and training of persons with disabilities at specific integrated work-sites. (This person would be working on a flexible hour basis as individual community job placements are made, or as an individual client needs job coach services).

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Supervises assigned client(s) at integrated work sites. Provides training to client(s) and ensures that training is integrated with the successful completion of day-to-day work site assignments, to include: a) Employer’s work site policies and procedures; b) Employer’s work site safety procedures; c) Social and/or community skills; d) Mobility and/or transportation skills. Make independent judgements, within stated objectives and guidelines, regarding the needs of the work site employer and the needs of the client(s). Performs all aspects of the client’s work site tasks and be able to perform job requirements when the client is unable to work. Conducts job and/or environmental analysis of assigned work site. Must be able to meet employer’s safety requirements established for work site. Conducts assessment of client’s needs and progress. Completes and maintains timely and accurate records and reports in a clear, complete and concise manner. Provides advocacy services with co-workers/others to build natural support. Assists client(s) with reporting wages to appropriate agencies. Keeps immediate supervisor promptly and fully informed of all problems or unusual matters of significance and takes prompt corrective action where necessary. Participates in assigned client’s case conferences, makes recommendations, and assists in the development of individual written program plans when appropriate.

ADDITIONAL DUTIES

May provide/arrange transportation for assigned client(s) as needed. Performs other duties and responsibilities as required or requested by the CES Program Coordinator, Rehabilitative Services Manager, or Executive Director.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Employee is regularly required to stand, walk, bend, lift, twist, use hands, reach with hands and arms, climb or balance, and see an hear and communicate with sufficient acuity to successfully perform all aspects of the job. Employee may be required to stand for the majority of an eight (8) hour shift. Ability to safely lift and/or carry 50 lbs.

QUALIFICATIONS

Require:

High school diploma or equivalent and/or any combination of education, knowledge, and/or skills, equal to a minimum of two years’ experience working in a variety of commercial/industrial work settings. Ability to work with persons with disabilities. Must possess a valid California Driver’s License and ability to maintain a clear DMV to be insurable by the Work Training Center’s carrier. A fingerprint clearance from the Department of Justice on file as a condition of continued employment. Commitment to the Work Training Center and its mission and the ability to work as a team member and represent WTC in a professional manner. Ability and willingness to work varied hours (overtime, split shifts, evenings, and/or weekends as assigned). Adherence to established dress standards.

Prefer Or Willing To Acquire:

Two years’ directly related experience working with persons with disabilities. Willing to learn a variety of occupational skills. Current First Aid and CPR certifications or the ability to obtain certification. Recommend inoculation for Hepatitis B.

COMPENSATION

Grade Level IV • On-Call Position
Wage: $8.00 - $11.18/hour with no benefits

Pay levels for new employees, whose qualifications exceed the minimum job requirements, may be started at a higher rate than the bottom figure listed for the salary range.
